What happens when you chat random here
You press Start. Your browser asks once for your camera and microphone, and Chat Random looks for a girl who is free right now. Before the call connects you see a quick preview of who it found — if you would rather skip that one, find another before anyone picks up.
When it connects, her camera fills the screen and yours sits in the corner. That is the whole idea of a random live video chat: no profile to browse, no messages waiting for a reply, just two people on camera deciding in a few seconds whether they want to keep talking.
Not in the mood for camera? Switch the match type before you start. Random chat on Chat Random also comes as a voice match or a text match, so you can begin with words and move to video when it feels right.
Prefer to choose instead of rolling the dice? The online list shows who is free, where she is and the languages she speaks, and you can call her directly.
Next: the button that makes random stranger chat work
Random stranger chat only works if leaving is easy. Most conversations with strangers are short, and that is fine — the good ones are worth the handful that are not. So the Next button is always on screen, next to the message box.
In a matched call, Next unlocks after a short countdown of a few seconds. That pause is deliberate: it gives both of you a moment to say hello before anyone moves on, and it stops a call from being skipped before the picture has even loaded.
Tap it and Chat Random goes straight back to matching — you do not land on a menu or have to press Start again. Want to stop altogether? End the call and you are out. Nobody is owed a reason, on either side.
And when a call is going well, simply do not press it.
Who you meet when you video chat with strangers
Every match on the other end is a girl. That is the main difference from an open roulette: you are not video chatting strangers who could be anyone with a webcam — you are meeting girls who are here to video chat, on their own cameras, one at a time.
She might be in the next state or on another continent. The online list shows each girl's country and the languages she speaks, and a random match is often the first time you talk to someone from that part of the world.
Language gaps are less of a problem than they sound. Use the message box in the call, and any message she sends can be translated with one tap. Typing a word is often faster than repeating it three times.
If you meet someone you want to talk to again, follow her. She appears in your following list, you can send her a message, and your call history keeps track of who you have talked to.
Is Chat Random free?
You can try it free. New accounts get some free matches to start with — how many is set by the system, so no fixed number is promised here.
After that, calls are paid with coins you buy in advance from your wallet. There is no single rate: each girl sets her own price for a call, so two calls of the same length can cost different amounts. Coins are used up while the call runs and stop the moment it ends.
Nothing is charged silently. A notice appears in the call before free time ends and charging begins, so you always know which side of that line you are on. Card numbers are handled by the payment provider and are not stored by Chat Random.
The help page covers purchases that have not shown up yet and other billing questions.
Do you need to sign up for Chat Random?
No. Open the site and press Start — there is no form to fill in first. Chat Random sets up a guest account for your browser in the background, so you can match and call straight away.
Two things do ask you to sign in: following a girl so you can find her again, and buying coins from your wallet. Once you are signed in, your follows, messages and coins stay on the same account on your phone and your computer.
Chat Random on your phone and computer
There is nothing to install. Chat Random is a videochat site that runs in the browser — Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox — on iPhone, Android, a laptop or a desktop with a webcam. Open chatrandom.fun, press Start, and the same account works on every device.
Want it to feel like an app? On your phone, add Chat Random to your home screen. You get an icon that opens straight into the site, without hunting for a bookmark. That icon is the Chat Random app — one tap from your home screen into a random chat.
On a computer you get the bigger picture: her video large, yours in the corner, and the message box easy to type in with a real keyboard. A laptop on a table also keeps the camera steady, which makes a bigger difference to how you come across than any filter.
Whichever you use, check that your browser is allowed to use the camera and microphone for this site — the camera icon in the address bar is where that lives.
How to talk to strangers online and stay safe
Talking to strangers online is easier when a few habits are automatic:
- Keep personal details back at first. Surname, address, workplace and other accounts can wait until you actually know someone.
- Leave whenever you want. Tap Next or end the call. No explanation needed.
- Block and report. A block is permanent and works at once. Reports are reviewed by people, and accounts removed for breaking the rules cannot register again.
- Nobody records anybody. Chat Random does not record calls, and recording the other person breaks the community guidelines.
- Be wary of fast exits. Anyone who pushes you to another app straight away, or asks for money outside Chat Random, is a reason to hang up.
Calls stay non-explicit, from both sides, and everyone here must be at least 18 years old. Those two rules are what let a random chat with a stranger feel relaxed instead of risky.
Your first 30 seconds on a live video chat
In a live chat, video does most of the talking before you say a word. A few small things change how those first seconds go:
- Light in front, not behind. A window or lamp facing you beats any camera upgrade. Backlit, you are a silhouette.
- Camera at eye level. Prop the phone up rather than holding it below your chin.
- Say hi first. A simple "Hi, where are you calling from?" works better than waiting for her to start.
- Ask about her, not just about you. Her city, what time it is there, what she was doing before the call.
- Smile, and give it a moment. The Next countdown is there for a reason; use it to say hello properly.
If a conversation is not happening, that is not a failure on anyone's part. Thank her, tap Next, and try again.
